The significance of the area continued the Middle Ages to its transit route. The origin of Vodriž Castle and dominion can be linked to it. The castle was built at the beginning of the 14. century and is Gothic in style. It is situated on a picturesque ridge and its ruins have been preserved to the present day, due to the obstructed access. The individual details have been preserved in their original form since the castle burnt down and was abandoned as early as the 17 century. It is interesting as an example of a castle whose possession was shared by several heirs or knights. A written document from 1338 records that it was divided among the Hebenstreit brothers.
