He started expressing his talent at the age of 22 by writing stories, novels and scripts for theatre along with intense studies of theology. During his service in Carinthia (region) by the Klopiner lake his writing withdrew from ruthless criticism of urban milieu (scene). He decided to focus his writing more on indigenous life of peasants which was influenced by patriotism in Carinthia during the plebiscite. Later on he worked and inspired artistic souls at the Sele parish. He is buried at the cemetery nearby, by the church of St. Rok. The locals respected him and often stopped by for advice or a kind word. They also had a great appreciation for his work, which was published in collections of Mohorjeva družba (company). The memorial room of Meško is located in the Carinthian regional museum of Slovenj Gradec. The municipal (public) library is also named after him; The municipal (public) library of Ksaver Meško.
